90 minutes man, Ramos saves Real Madrid once again

If there is a perfect name for Sergio Ramos, it got to be Sergio the 90 minutes messiah. The hard tackling defender has proven over time to be a very reliable defender for the capital club. His wealth of experience has served the club so well in difficult situations, not only was his defending tactics helpful for the club, the skipper's hunger for goals, especially at crucial moments, has endeared  him so well in the heart of every Madridsta.

Real Madrid hosted Deportivo Lacoruna in a La-liga match at the iconic Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday night. The homers were unable to break the visitors' back line in the first half of the encounter, However, on resumption of second half at exactly 50th minute, returning striker Alvaro Morata gave the home side the lead to send the stadium on fire. Real's celebration was not going to last long as the visitors drew levels 13 minutes later through in form Joselu who scored in the 63rd minute. As if that was not going to be enough shock for Real Madrid, Joselu added the second goal two minutes later to give the away side a 2-1 lead, leaving Real Madrid frustrated and effectively putting their 33 games unbeaten run in jeopardy.

The away team hanged on to their slim but precious advantage up to the 84th minute and it looked certain that Real Madrid will finally lose their first match this season across all competitions. Thanks to Mariano Mejia's wonderful effort in the 84th minute as he equalized for the home side to restore hopes once again for Real Madrid who  were not in a hurry to surrender their amazing unbeaten run. The goal seemed to add more vigour to the home side as they pushed forward for the winner.

It seemed like the two teams were destined to share the points as time elapsed. However in the Sergio minute, i mean the 90th minute, Ramos showed up for the umpteenth time and scored the winner to put paid to Deportivo's hope of snatching what would have been a well-deserved point.

With the win, Real Madrid restored their six points advantage at the top of the table, after title rivals Barcelona had cut it to three points after their 3-0 victory against Osasuna earlier in the day. Real Madrid also preserved and extended their unbeaten run to 34 matches across all competitions.
