SCORES INJURED AS HERDSMEN CLASH WITH ABIA COMMUNITY

No fewer than five residents of Ndi Okereke Abam in Ovukwu autonomous community in Arochukwu Local Government Area in Abia state, are currently hospitalized, following bullet wounds and matchet cuts inflicted on them during a clash with the rampaging Fulani Herdsmen. Though no death was recorded, however one person who was allegedly shot said to have narrowly escaped with bullet wounds.

According to the President General of Ndi Okereke Abam Town Union, Chief Chukwuma Egbuta Okubi, who disclosed this to newsmen. The incident happened last Friday when the herdsmen grazed their cattle into peoples farms, destroying their crops in the process. The matter was made even more painful by the fact that the herdsmen uprooted our cassava and yams for their cows to eat." he lamented, wondering why they left the grass they normally graze on to destroy their crops, the only source of their livelihood.
