Ondo: INEC denies recruiting party loyalists as ad hoc staff

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has denied claims that it had recruited loyalists of some governorship candidates as ad hoc staff.

Reacting to the allegation in a statement, the commission’s  Head, Voter Education and Publicity Department, Mr.Olabimpe Awoniyi said:  “The allegations were not only untrue but aimed to distract the commission from delivering a free, fair and credible governorship election in the state.

“Indeed, discerning minds in the state already know that this covert subterfuge can best be described as mischief on parade since the writer has been consistent and predictable in his verbal insults against INEC in the state in order to achieve his sinister motive. “To put the records straight, there was no time that INEC in Ondo state recruited its ad hoc staff from outside the state as claimed by Adesanya.

The truth is that INEC recruited the bulk of its ad hoc staff from NYSC members in the state while the rest are sourced from Federal tertiary institutions exclusively. “ The APC and PDP in the state had accused INEC of unwholesome activities.

The State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Abayomi Adesanya, had accused the Commission of recruiting and training loyalists of Olusola Oke. Also, the Director of Publicity of the PDP, Mr.   Banji Okunomo had raised alarm over an alleged engagement of APC members.
