Govt should complete shopping mall before returning it to Nnewi--Hon Azubogu

The lawmaker representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo local government areas in the House of Representatives, Hon Chris Azubogu yesterday said stressed the need for the Anambra state government to complete the shopping mall under construction in Nnewi before handing it over to the community.

Hon Azubogu who was commenting on the return of an un completed mall to the community noted that handing over an un completed project to the Nnewi community may be a trap to destroy the town.

He pointed out that it is against all known government practice and ethics for un completed project to be handed over to a community.

"We did not ask for a shopping mall, now that they have started, they should just conclude it before handing it over to us, that is my personal stand on the purported return of the un completed shopping mall to Nnewi people. That is nothing but a Greek gift." He stressed.

The member of the National Assembly said that the standard practice is for the Anambra state government to complete what they have started and run it for some years if it seeks to recoup some money before returning it to the community.

"This is one project that was not solicited and the government should not return an un completed project to us on the pretense that there is no money to carry on, there is money, the state government makes good money even from Nnewi North local government area, part of that money should be used to complete the project." He insisted

Hon Azubogu while commenting on the state of the nation said that the National Assembly is committed to formulating laws which would enable the executive pull the country out of recession to avoid a situation where the nation would be plunged into depression.

He however blamed persistent lack of political will to pursue and execute quality policies to their logical conclusions as part of the causative factor of recession noting that the federal government should ensure that critical infrastructure like electricity, good road network and other facilities are in place.

The lawmaker also advocated a change of attitude among Nigerians stressing that they can not be doing things the same way and expect different results.

He reassured his constituents that many projects would be flagged off as soon as the federal government starts implementing the budget as many projects in the constituency are captured in 2016 appropriation bill.
