Former Kenya Prime Minister commends Nigeria's Democracy,

www.odogwublog.com reports that former Prime Minister of Kenya, Rt. Hon Raila Odinga, this afternoon  expressed delight with the quantum of socio infrastructural and political  development attained by  Nigeria since after it's  thirty months of  civil wars from 1967 to 1970, especially as a democratic nation.



Hon Odinga made the assertions while talking with news men as he arrived Akanu Ibiam International airport, Enugu, before proceeding to Awka, the Anambra state capital,where he is billed   to deliver a lecture at  Nnamdi Azikiwe University.



The former Kenyan opposition strongman, who was accompanied by his daughter, said he was happy to see Nigeria making progress as one country,especially in the democratic process.


His words,“Democracy is not coffee that you brew and drink at the same time. Nigeria has made progress. Nobody believed that Nigeria will come out of the civil war as one country.But, with all what we heard during that war, Nigeria came out of it as one country. After the war, the country experienced long years of military dictatorship'.




‘I am happy to see Nigeria under civilian rule. However, you need to open up democratic space” Odinga said.


Speaking on the protest trailing the recent presidential elections in United States of America (USA) won by Donald Trump of the Republican Party, Odinga said Americans have spoken through the ballot and the people get the leadership they deserve.


Odinga said there was no need for the Africans to fear about the emergence of Trump, adding that “we should look at ourselves in Africa and not depend on others, if we must develop.”


He added that "America needs Africa as much as Africa needs America."



The former Kenyan Prime Minister who was received at Akanu Ibiam International airport by officials of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, led by Prof. Stella Okunna, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Unizik, Senator Ndi-Obi , a benefactor at the airport reception before they paid courtesy call on the Enugu state Governor,Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, then departed to Awka,where he is scheduled to deliver a lecture at Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
