The introduction of Treasury Single Account [TSA], by His Royal Majesty, Kenneth Ezegbunem, the Obi of Nssukwa in Delta State, to the monarchical system of government in the kingdom, has triggered tension in the land. The kingdom has been enmeshed in crisis sine the policy was implemented as some indigenes who were allegedly benefiting from the old order at the detriment of the entire community did not find it funny.
Speculation was rife that the monarch had been dethroned by the opposing forces, owing to his tight-fisted posture on such account. The crisis however assumed a new twist as some indigenes in the kingdom maintained that the monarch had been removed.
But unperturbed by the name calling, the monarch said only one quarter of the total revenue in the account should be spent on the palace, while a greater chunk of it should be used for community development. Reacting to his rumoured dethronement, the monarch lambasted those he described as 'enemies of progress' in the kingdom, said the community has since ignored their antics and moved forward for good.
He said: Old things have passed away. My reign is different. Since there was no money to share again, they bare calling for my head."
