ARMY UNCOVERS BOKO HARAM BOMB FACTORY


   The Nigerian Army has destroyed an improvised Explosive device [IED] factory, a motor vehicle and motorcycle workshop belonging to the Boko Haram insurgents. Also the Army said that the Soldiers from 7 Division of the Nigerian Army Operation, Lafiya Dole, have rescued 85 people, mostly women and children held hostage by the insurgents in Borno North, on the southern fringes of the lake chad.

A statement by the Army spokesperson, Colonel Sani Usman, yesterday, said the hostages were rescued when the troops conducted s decisive clearance operation into the remnants of the Boko Haram's strategic town of Chukungudu village. According to him, the IED making factory was discovered and destroyed at Geram. In the factory they found several already primed suicide bombers' vests. They also discovered well-equipped motor vehicles and motorcycles' workshop and spare parts warehouse at Chukungudu village. The troops recovered three vehicles and newly acquired motorcycles," the statement said. He said that in line with the rules of engagement, the IED factory, the vehicles and motorcycles had been destroyed. The troops also recovered four rounds of rocket propelled Grenade [RPG] bombs, one double barrel gun, 349 packets of containing various rounds of ammunition, a link belt of machine gun ammunition, and one AK-47 rifle magazine" he said. However, the success story came at a price as one soldier died in the process.
