Addressing officers and men of the division, the CP said “we are overwhelmed with the support the people give the police towards crime prevention in the state.
He told the people who came to welcome him that, “if You notice that our officers derail don’t hesitate to expose them, we have told them to serve you”, report any erring one to the Divisional Police Officer or the Police Area Commander and if they fail to carry out positive action you come to me, my phone number will be made available to you before I leave”.
He expressed satisfaction with the DPO in charge of Ogidi Police Division, Mr. Hassan Musa and described the Division as the ‘most peaceful in the state’ and attributed it to the cooperation and support of the people to the police in the area.
“With this cooperation if few people will go into crime the people will be able to pass information to us”, he stated
The CP who said that security was a collective responsibility of all commended the Local Vigilance groups in the area adding that they contributed immensely towards fighting crime in the area.
Earlier in his address, the DPO, Mr. Musa said the efforts of the division in fighting crime resulted in the arrest of three suspected kidnappers, three notorious bag snatchers, recovery of Toyota car and a Mark trailer belonging to Emsil Oil and Gas company.
Speaking the President General of Ogidi, Chief Chuka Onubogu commended the police in the division adding that the community would continue to assist the police in crime prevention.
Earlier in his vote of thanks the former Acting Chairman, caretaker committee of Nkpor, Barr. Ralph Nnabuife said crime rate has been drastically reduced and attributed it to the efforts of the DPO and the people in the area
