CD calls for southeast security summit over Biafra, herdsmen attacks, others

The Campaign for Democracy (CD) has called for security summit to be organized by southeast governors in view of the security challenges facing the southeast geopolitical zone in recent time stressing that the summit is important considering the several killings of pro Biafra protesters, anxiety over the presence of Fulani herdsmen and other cases of violent crimes.

The CD in a statement issued in Onitsha by its national publicity secretary Dede Uzor A Uzor and made available to The Authority opines that the summit is very important and imperative  in view of the recent killing of unarmed youth who were members of Pro Biafra groups as the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the zone and the killing of innocent people at Nimbo in Enugu state adding that the summit would involve experts in security matters,

According to the statement, "time has done for the Ndigbo to come together as people of a geopolitical zone to address all the issues bothering on security of lives and property, the many cases of wanton killing of unarmed youths and innocent men, women and children in many parts of the zone demand that the people have to do something urgently to address them and the security summit is just the ideal"

Dede Uzor also said that the summit would provide the people of the southeast sone the opportunity to address more security challenges rising from other criminal activities like bank robbery, kidnapping and the ugly trend of armed robbery by dare devil criminals who disguise themselves as Okada riders using high capacity motorcycle to rob people of valuables at gun points stressing that it is high time to call it a day with Okada riders in the entire southeast.

The right activist went further to say that the summit would also serve as a platform to address the high rate of unemployment, infrastructural decay and continued lack of federal presence in the southeast calling on the southeast governors forum to begin plans for the summit immediately and ensure that it holds within thirty days of this statement,
