You can't stop Biafra, IPOB tells Buhari as protest rocks Aba

Miffed by a statement credited to President Muhammadu Buhari that he  would not allow any part of Nigeria secede under his watch, the   Indigenous Peoples of Biafra ( IPOB), has told the President that no mortal could stop the freedom of the break- away republic.

This was contained in a press statement issued yesterday by IPOB's Spokespersons,   Dr. Clifford Iroanya, and Bar. Emma Nmezu which came on the heels of the President's comment.

IPOB said it decided to embark on unplanned peaceful protest in Aba, Abia State to register its annoyance with Buhari over  the comment  which it described as " laughable".

The statement read in part: " It is with a profound sense of responsibility, that we make public our reasons for quietly rolling out one of our 48 zones on the streets today, Tuesday 10th may, 2016. The reasons for this unplanned peaceful march are as follows:

"We are pained by the statement General Buhari made yesterday in Kastina, that the whole of Nigerian would rather perish, than our people to be free from bondage. We view that position as the mindset of a deluded man.

"It is a pity that the man cannot see that this unitary and hostile prison called Nigerian, cannot survive much longer.

"He is clearly not in touch with reality. His belief that killing us in cold blood will force us to fall in love with his dream unitary empire, where injustice, nepotism and hate reign is laughable. Our message to him is short and precise: our freedom is unstoppable."

IPOB also said the Aba protest was to reaffirm its loyalty to  its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, and to identify with its over 200 members killed by security forces in the course of the struggles in different parts of the country.

"Our second reason for marching peacefully today is: to pay homage with this solidarity march to our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, for his tenacity and commitment to truth, and to inform him, that political comedians on the payroll of our enemies are busy entertaining the public in their wild claim to IPOB leadership.

"We proudly declare that we are totally committed - body, soul and spirit to Nnamdi Kanu leadership, for better for worse. On Kanu we stand.

" Finally, we are marching in solidarity and in honour of over 200 of our members killed in cold blood, and  the over 100 others who are still missing, and to state to the whole world that your death will not be in vain."

IPOB vowed that no amount of molestation by security agencies would deter it from forging ahead with its bid to actualise self rule for Biafra, adding that it will also not review its non- violent philosophy.

" As the adversaries stagger in confusion, we assure them that no amount of extra judicial killings, false accusation and brutal intimidation will stop our march to freedom."
