THE ACTING DIRECTOR-GENERAL NOA, MRS. EKEOBA, URGED NIGERIANS TO PUT THE INTEREST OF THE COUNTRY ABOVE SELF



The Batch “A” 2016 members of the National Youth Service Corps have been advised to remain committed in carrying out their civic responsibilities dutifully by supporting all policies and programmes of the government in power in the country.

The Acting Director-General, National Orientation Agency, Mrs. Ngozi Ekeoba, gave the advise in a lecture she delivered during a one day Orientation and Sensitization programme organized for the Batch “A” 2016 members of the National Youth Service Corps at the temporal orientation camp of the corps at Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area.

The Acting Director-General NOA, Mrs. Ekeoba, who was represented by the Anambra State Director of the Agency in Awka, Mr. George Njoku challenged  the people to put the interest of the nation above their personal or sectional interest.

Mrs. Ekeoba, who spoke on the topic, “National Core Values: Patriotism”, said that patriotism denotes positive and supportive attributes to a fatherland by individuals and groups, urging Nigerians to form the unflinching habit of defending the integrity, unity and stability of the country as well as work towards exposing every threat to the peace and security of the nation.

The Acting Director-General, Mrs. Ekeoba, who also spoke on the benefits of patriotism to include, selfless service, creation of good governance, sustenance of spirit of volunteerism among citizens, peace, progress and development of the country among others, tasked Nigerians to always obey any call to national service with integrity and dignity for rapid socio-economic development of the country.

She charged the corps members not to speak ill of their country but should be committed to projecting only the positive values of the country by according due respect to the country’s national symbols such as National Flag, Anthem, and the Pledge among others symbols that united the country.
