Obiano, Ugwuanyi take tour of Nimbo victims at Hospitals

Governor of Anambra State, Chief  Willie Obiano in company of some members of the State Executive Council and the State Traditional Rulers Council paid a solidarity visit to Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State today to condole with the people of Enugu over the recent killings at Nimbo by Fulani herdsmen.

Speaking at Park Lane Teaching Hospital, Enugu, Obiano expressed satisfaction on how the sister State Government is taking care of the injured and paying their bills and commended Ugwuanyi for taking the necessary steps to avoid further attacks.

Obiano further assured his Enugu counterpart and Ndi Enugu that "Our government and the people of Anambra State are solidly behind the government and people of our sister state in this crisis" explaining that he was steadily in touch with the governor as soon as the attack occurred.

In his response, Ugwuanyi expressed immense gratitude to Obiano for standing by him from the moment news of  the attack broke confirming that Obiano called him as soon as the incident occurred and that his presence today with respected Traditional Rulers “goes to show the very special bond that exists between the people of Enugu and Anambra States and the love and sympathy they share among themselves."

In his own remarks, the Chairman of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Alfred Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha, said that it is the view of the monarchs that the people of the South East geopolitical zone should gird their loins and not allow this kind of attack to take their people unawares again in the future.

Obiano also ordered air surveillance of the border towns in addition to security awareness campaigns to forestall any possible attack by the rampant herdsmen.
