HOW TWO ENUGU GIRLS PLOT KIDNAP OF MOTHER, DEMAND RANSOM OF 2.5M NAIRA

The Enugu state police command under the new police commissioner posted to the state,CP Emmanuel C.S.Ojukwu, have reiterated their commitment in fighting and curtailing crime to the barest minimum in the state. CP Ojukwu who had his maiden press briefing with news men in Enugu on Thursday, May 12,identified armed robbery, snatching of cars and kidnapping as the most common crimes prevailing in the state, stating the commitment of the state command of the Nigeria Police in this direction, has continued to yield positive results.

But one astonishing case  and latest trend of kidnapping in the state that shocked to the marrow is the commands unraveling  of  a kidnapping case, where two sisters from same mother plotted for the kidnap of  their aged mother,Mrs Hannah Achime, who is 65 years of age and demanded a ransom of two and a half million naira from their elder brother, assumed to be rich, who lives in Lagos.

The police said they are doing all possible in their investigations to get to the root of the matter, even though the two sisters have made confessional statements,Likewise, the young man they contacted for the execution of the dirty deal.

The two sisters are  Miss Onyinyechi Achime, about 32 years of age and Miss Akunna Achime, who is 26 years of age, both of whom hails from Obinagu community in Udi local government area of Enugu state. While Oninyechi Achime disclosed that she was earning her living through  food stuff business transactions and lives at Maryland Estate in Enugu Urban.

Her sister, Miss Akunna Achime told 'The Authority' that she is waiting  for her call up letter to enroll into the present batch of corp members who will put in one year service in honour of our fatherland Nigeria, before the temptation and plot to kidnap their mother was carved with her sister.

They stressed that the reason why they took to the option to have plotted the kidnap of their mother, Mrs Hannah Chime, stems on the fact that they have spent all their live savings in attending to the depreciating health conditions of their mother, while their elder brother  who stays in Lagos and very   rich cares less about  their mothers welfare.

The elder sister,Miss Onyinyechi Achime, told the Authority' that her business  has liquidated because she was spending serious money for the upkeep of their mother,Mrs Hannah Achime. Therefore, the plot to kidnap their mother was a mere plot to extort money from their elder brother,Mr Eric Achime, who stays in Lagos and cares less about the welfare of their parents, especially their mother, whose health condition has continued to deteriorate.

Mr Monday Egbe, a 30 year old man,who hails from Onueke, in Ezza South local government area of Ebonyi state was contacted for the dirty deal. The 'Authority' gathered from sources that don't want to be quoted in print that Monday Egbe was an intimate friend of Onyinyechi Achime, the elder sister.

On the agreed day, April 12, 2016,as pre arranged Monday Egbe drove down to the family home of the Achime's at Obinagu community in Udi council area, where he hoisted away Mrs Hannah Achime, along with Akunna Achime, on the pretext that they have been kidnapped.

Thereafter, he started putting phone calls across to Mr Eric Chime, demanding the sum of 2.5 M naira, as ransom to secure the release of their mother,Mrs Hannah Achime. However, Mr Eric Chime secretly alerted the police of the development while still negotiating with Mr Egbe. He later settled to pay an amount of Five hundred thousand naira with Mr Egbe, the suspected kidnapper.

According to the police, Mr Egbe was rounded up and arrested as he was about to collect the money on April 20,2016 at about ten o'clock in the morning. While he was detained he narrated how he was engaged by the two sisters to plot the kidnap of their mother, just as a way of extorting money from their brother, Mr Eric Achime, who stays in Lagos.

Consequent upon Monday Egbe's statement, the  police went in search of  two sisters, Onyinyechi Achime and Akunna Achime. They were eventually arrested at Obinagu Udi on April 27,2016. They have equally confessed to the crime, stating their ulterior motive was to collect money from their brother, for the upkeep of their parents, especially their mother,Mrs Hannah Achime, who has health problems.

Monday Egbe, disclosed that he didn't charge or demand any money from the two sisters as payment for execution of the kidnap plot on their mother. He said he was personally touched by the situation they found themselves, based on  their claim that Mr Eric Chime, their brother, who is doing well at Lagos cares less about the upkeep of their parents. That out of sympathy, he volunteered to do the dirty deal without any bargain.

He pleaded for forgiveness.
