Fulani herdsmen palaver: Youth bodies of all Nigeria ethnic nationalities to meet in Enugu

As part of efforts to find permanent solution to the atrocities  of the rampaging Fulani herdsmen wrecking havoc in agrarian communities in the country, the leadership of the youth wings of all ethnic nationalities in Nigeria will , during the weekend, meet in Enugu State, The Authority can authoritatively report.

The National President of Ohanaeze Youth Council, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro who confided this in The Authority yesterday in Umuahia said that the youth bodies would during the summit, visit Uzo- Uwani community where an early morning raid by the herdsmen , last week,  left no fewer than 40 locals dead.

He said the youth organisation  would also during their stay in Enugu, consult with some political leaders and other stakeholders in the South East to brainstorm on how to end the herdsmen menace in the region.

According to him, the leaderships of Ijaw Youth Council, Arewa Consultative Forum, Middle Belt Youth Movement, Yoruba Youth Council ,Ogoni Youth Wing, Ibibio Nationality Youths, Efik Youths, have all confirmed their participation in the summit.

Similarly, the leaderships of Itshekiri Youth Council, Isoko Youth Council, Federation of Nupe Youth , Edo Youths, Igala Youths Movement, Urhobor Youth Council, Northern Youth Assembly,  as well as Ohanaeze Youth Council have all confirmed they would be at the Enugu summit.

Isiguzoro said that the youths would  during the summit, critically review the achievements  of President Muhammadu Buhari- led administration, and that  of the Governors of South Eastern states, and give their unbiased assessment.

He said that the assessment of both the Federal and State Governments of their host region was in keeping with the tradition of the youth associations during their quarterly summits which are rotated among the six geopolitical zones of the country.

The OYC helmsman said that the youths had decided to take the front burners in issues of  national concern instead of watching from the sideline while "retired and retiring politicians destroy the country with their foot solders".
