Breaking: Tears flow in ESUT over sack of 153 lecturers as NUC withdraws Accreditation

Indeed students of Mass Communication, Psychology , Engineering, among others were crying this evening in Enugu over the Nigeria University Commission’s (NUC) withdrawal of it's accreditation of some courses earlier granted to the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, based on petitions from 153 sacked lecturers of the University.

The Director of Information and Public Relations, NUC,Mallam Ibrahim Yakassai, who confirmed the development yesterday mentioned the faculties and departments affected to include Mass Communication, Psychology , Engineering, among others.

He explained that NUC under it's  Executive Secretary,Professor Julius Okojie. frowns at a situation where some universities hire and sack lecturers immediately after getting accreditation from the commission.

 The sacked 153 ESUT lecturers have been in a running battle with ESUT management that they were employed to fill vacant positions in the institution so as to gain accreditation of the NUC and were immediately booted out after the accreditation was successful, without paying their emoluments.
