N20 Million relief materials distributed in Anambra by SEMA

The State government has commenced another round of distribution of relief materials worth about twenty million naira to victims of last year’s minor flood disaster in some flood prone areas of the state.
  The relief materials which included thousands of bags of cement, beans, garri and maize were distributed today at the headquarters of the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Awka.

According to the Executive Secretary of SEMA, Chief Paul Odenigbo, the items were donated to the individual flood victims by the presidential committee on flood relief and rehabilitation through the Anambra state government which persistently intervened on behalf of the victims.

The Executive Secretary of SEMA who was represented by a director in the agency, Barrister Chukwudi Onyejekwe put the number of the beneficiaries at about three hundred, pointing out that most of them were drawn from Ogbaru, Onitsha North and South Local Government Areas.

  He emphasized that the Governor Willie Obiano administration would continue to show keen interests in the well being of the masses in the state.
  In their various remarks, the leader of the flood disaster victims, Mr. John-Peter Mabo and Bridget Eneh expressed gratitude to both the federal and Anambra State generosity.
