DSS Arrest of Umeh: Lawyer berates Umeh over accusations on Obi

www.odogwublog.com reports that a constitutional lawyer, Chief Okoli-Akirika yesterday carpeted the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the forthcoming rerun election for Anambra Central Senatorial zone, Chief Victor Umeh over his allegations on a radio programme that the former governor of Anambra State, Chief Peter Obi masterminded his arrest recently by the operatives of the State Security Service.
Okoli-Akirika who was immediate past Anambra commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban planning as well as APGA’s Anambra State Secretary frowned at wanton accusations by politicians in negation to the modus operandi of established organization like DSS.
He explained that Umeh never established any modicum of fact to back up his claims during the phone-in programme at Silverbird’s Rhythm FM, Awka.
Okoli-Akirika said: “The only worry is that Umeh was alleging that the former governor masterminded his arrest. We all know very well that the security operatives have two ways of receiving complaints. They can do it by the legitimate way of getting complaints or petitions from private citizens.
‘’They can as well do it through the routine of normal investigation. When Umeh addressed Silverbird’s Rhythm FM, he never established any modicum of facts; he never alleged that SSS told him that the petition was written by Mr Peter Obi.
“So, I am wondering about the facts available to him to now allege that somebody was behind the arrest when SSS said that they arrested him pursuant to the statements: seditious or defamatory comments he made regarding IPOB and issue of Biafra. So on the strength of that, the SSS in the course of their routine duty is entitled to arrest and release on bail.”
Okoli-Akirika statement of legality on Anambra state has played out following the inclusion of PDP to contest in the Anambra re-run against what pundits earlier stated.
