Pipeline bombing: Itsekiri won't go to war with Ijaw, Urhobo - Olu of Warri

Itsekiri Monarch, Ogiame Ikenwole, Olu of Warri on Monday expressed sadness over the recent spate of bombing of oil installations in the Niger Delta region especially in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, saying that doom days await those behind the attacks.

He also warned those fanning embers of war in the recent crisis to have a rethink noting that Itsekiri would not go to war with their neighbours- Ijaws and Urhobo.
The Olu stated this in a statement released through Office of the Palace Secretary, saying those behind the criminality risk condemnation by the gods.

He said: “The acts pull back the hands of the clock to the notorious dark days in violent past history of our dear state. Those behind the dastardly acts must change their ways and those fanning embers of ethnic crisis in the Niger Delta should repent now or face the wrath of the gods and ancestors.”

The traditional ruler described the multiple bombing as wickedly designed to sabotage and deplete oil earnings accruable to Delta state.

“Those trying to use destruction of oil facilities to plunge the ethnic nation-alities in the area into another orgy of violence will fail. The people are now wiser to their antics and selfish motives,” Ogiame Ikenwole stressed.
