How I became Igwe Nawfia

HRH Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo (Osuofia 2), Eze Nawfia (Igwe Umunri), Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State is fearless and controversial, yet stands tall among his peers. He has interest in becoming the next Chairman of the South-East Council of Traditional rulers. He is one African traditional ruler without a Queen and is bothered less about that yet, his people are happy with him. ODOGWU EMEKA ODOGWU brings captivating issues about the Igwe.

Ascendancy
Igwe Nawfia became monarch in 2001, after the brutal murder of his father Igwe Nwankwo, the Osuofia 1.
He lived in the United State and has several academic laurels in his kitty. After his father’s death, it was not easy for him. According to him, “I accused some persons from a particular village of being accomplices to my father’s assassination and they ganged-up and said I accused the entire village”. Eventually, he succeeded my father.
You asked if I have challenges in Nawfia? The challenges in Nawfia are very big. If there are towns in the state with big trouble, Nawfia is number one. We had a case pending but without hearing it, they gave a judgment. The judge is corrupt. So what I did was tactical withdrawal. We said we do not have the case anymore. We retired the case and filed it again.
Insecurity
Tackling insecurity requires honesty. The armed robbers are organised; somebody sponsors them, somebody bails them. These things start as thuggery during political campaigns, but later develop into full-fledged gangsters. You can never eliminate crimes but you can checkmate it. The problem we have in this country is that they made security political. So the monarchs can checkmate insecurity
