The burial service of Pa Pius Ngige, the father of the minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Alor, Anambra State attracted who is who including President Muhammadu Buhari represented by the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Pastor David Babaji Lawal, APC leader and former Governors Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, Segun Oni, Kayode Fayemi, Peter Obi, Odigie Oyegun, Bisi Akande, Ifeanyi Okowa, Adams Oshiomhole, Alex Ewkueme, and Rotimi Amaechi.
Others are Chukwuma Soludo, Stella Oduah, Segun Osoba, Audu Ogbe, Andy Uba, Udo Udoma among other dignitaries.
Buhari praised Ngige for his support for his government and thanked the people of Anambra State for producing a son like him.
He said Senator Dr Chrs Ngige is one of the pillars of his government, and the pillar on which he hopes to move the country to high heights.
Buhari said that Pa Ngige did not die a common man, but a fulfilled man who also gave the country children that can contribute to moving the country forward.
He said that he has left a legacy that will be difficult to fill, but charged his children to take hard and ensure they emulate their father.
Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano who was also at the service said that the gathering of high profile individual at the service was a clear reason why Pa Ngige’s exit should not be a mourning, but rather a celebration.
Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor who celebrated the mass charged all to live a good life, saying that death is an inevitable happening, and only those who are ready and prepared to make heaven will make it.
He told Nigerian politicians who were all gathered to strive to serve the people and also understand that any form of embezzlement or selfish acquisition of property that put other people in deep pain and misery is a sin.
