Chief Elisius Ozokwelu emerges New Auto Spare Parts Market Chairman

The leadership crises which enveloped the Auto Spare Parts Market Nkpor, Anambra State in recent past seem to have come to an end after the emergence of a new executive yesterday after what could be regarded as the freest and fairest election ever conducted in the market.
 It was alleged that the New Auto Spare Parts Market  Association, Nkpor former leadership headed by Chief Emmanuel Ukoh had been handling the affairs of the market unaccountable and against the wishes of the traders for many years .
 Three months ago a caretaker committee led by Chief Gabriel Ekpunobi hijacked the affairs of the market with the mandate of holding an election an handing over to a democratically elected executive within three months.
The election which took place at the market premises was for registered members of the association only. The open ballot system where supporters were made to stand behind their choice of candidate in a long cue and counted immediately to announce the winner of each category of office was adopted by the electoral body of the market.
The traders came out unmasse to cast their votes for candidates of their choice after being deprived of a democratically elected leadership for many years .
However, the newly elected chairman, Chief Elisius Ozokwelu emerged winner with 334 votes far ahead of fellow contenders Emeka Asimonyemena and Policap Dike who had 43 votes and 24 votes respectively.
Speaking after the election , Chief Ozokwelu reminded the entire traders and supporters that he will live up to his campaign promises which stipulates – Reformation , Restoration  and Accountability.  
Ozokwelu who has served in various leadership capacity both in the market and amongst his towns men in Uga, Aguata L.G.A Anambra State said that his team will start by restoring peace in the market. He pointed out that there were numerous court cases, petitions and counter petitions which brought enmity among the traders.
       He said that the era of sit tight dictatorship was over because the new executive would see to the establishment of a working constitution which will define tenureship, duties and excesses   of the association.
      The newly elected Secretary of the market Association, Mr Malobi Uchenna Emma said that he will make sure that the lavatories in the market will be up graded to international standards just like the one at ASPAMDA Tradefair complex, Lagos.
      Moreover, the new Financial secretary, Mr. Alexander C. Orji reassured the people that he would apply his training as a Msc. holder in Monetary and financial economy to ensure accountability and probity as regards the financial transactions of the association.
      The Vice Chairman, Mr Jude I. Onyegbu said that he would ensure the sanitation condition of the market amongst other things was improved.
       Other newly elected members of the executive includes: Asst.Secertary-Onyebuchi Okeke, Teasurer—Ignatius Ezeike, PRO-Nwankwo Chukwujekwu, Social welfare- Ikechukwu Ikegbunam, Provost-Sir Jude Nwagu, Circular Bearer-Okechukwu Onwudiwe
      Meanwhile, The leadership of Anambra state Market Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA) was ably represented by Chief Okwudili Nwankwo and ably assisted by Hon. Chuma  Eruchalu  conducted  the swearing into office.
      The DCO of Divisional Police station, Ogidi, DSP Akerele  Adebowale thanked God for the success of the election and the cooperation of all security operatives which includes, The Police, The Army, The DSS, Civil defence,  Vigilante  and market security who ensured and contributed to the peaceful atmosphere during and after  the election.
