Policeman dies in gun battle with bank robbers

 

One policeman has been killed in a shootout with armed robbers who invaded a community bank in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi state.
Sergeant Patrick Sunday was killed alongside two of the armed robbers, Yakubu and another unidentified male.
The Kogi state police command who paraded 21 suspects in the state command headquarters in Lokoja yesterday, explained that the incident happened on Friday, November 27, 2015, when it received information that some armed bandits numbering about twenty had attacked Akengwu Community Bank in Adavi Local Government Area.
The Kogi State Command Public Relation Officer, William Aya, who briefed journalists said the hoodlums engaged the police in a gun battle leading to the death of Sergeant Sunday, while two of the criminals were gunned down.
Items recovered from the robbery scene include two AK47 Riffles, ten AK 47 Magazines, one hundred AK 47 live ammunition, one face mask, one Techno and ITEL mobile phone, one crape bandage, one pack of cotton wool, one bottle of Dettol and two sachet of hard drugs.
