Kanu never apologised over Biafra - IPOB, MASSOB, father

The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has refuted a national daily report that its detained leader, Dr. Nnamdi Kanu, has apologised to President Muhammadu Buhari for allegedly referring to him as a terrorist.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday in Umuahia, Abia State, the group said the report was “a blatant lie and cheap propaganda by its sponsors to create the wrong impression that Kanu is backing out of the Biafran project.”

The IPOB statement, signed by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, accused the Federal Government of planting the report to dampen the morale of Kanu’s followers and other Biafran agitators.
According to IPOB, “it is an insult to the entire Biafran Republic for anyone to expect any apology from Kanu over his activities towards facilitating Biafra’s autonomy…
“This latest trick is nothing but part of the grand design by the Federal Government to blackmail our leader and weaken the confidence of IPOB members in him,” it said.
“We are not surprised at this concocted trash because government is already intimidated by Kanu’s rising popularity and followership among the good people of Biafra.”
Similarly, Kanu’s father, His Royal Majesty Eze Israel Kanu, described the report as the hand¬iwork of the enemies of the struggle for Biafran emancipation.
He said his son could not have apologised “to anybody because he is fighting a just cause and has never violated any law to warrant any apology”.
The monarch, who said he was not surprised at “such fab¬rications”, added that he would never advise his son to give up his fight for a sovereign state of Biafra because “it is in line with the wishes of the people.”
Also, the leader of the Move¬ment for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MAS¬SOB), Comrade Uchenna Madu, described as abominable the re¬port that Kanu has apologised to President Buhari over his deten¬tion.
In a press statement he is¬sued in Owerri, Imo State, Madu maintained that the report was a ploy by the Federal Government to discredit and scuttle the Bia¬fran agitation.
Madu said: “The report in a newspaper that Nnamdi Kanu has apologised to Buhari over Bi¬afra is misleading, it’s a calculated and systematic attempt by agents of Federal Government using a Yoruba-owned newspaper to dis-credit, disorganise and frustrate the Biafran struggle which sud¬denly gain international promi¬nence and sympathy because of Nnamdi Kanu’s arrest and deten¬tion.”
