IPOB/MASSOB agitation for Biafra: Bishop Ikeakor calls for referendum

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Amichi, Most Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor has called on the President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government to as a matter of urgency consider conducting a referendum for the people of South East to determine whether they still want to remain in Nigeria or not.
This, he said, would be part of measures to douse the on-going civil unrest across the South East and South-South regions being carried out by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and members of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign state of Biadfra (MASSOB) members.
Ikeakor cautioned that the continued treatment of the Igbo as third class citizens in Nigeria would only sustain the urge for self-determination.
Ikeako who made this observation during his Christmas message at the Bishop’s court yesterday at Amichi Nnewi South local government area of Anambra state decried that “Ndi-Igbo have been shown that they’re not needed in Nigeria.
He noted that the “Igbo were protesting subjugation, humiliation; it’s not marginalization again; it’s complete abandonment.”
“If we tell you that Igbo race are not fully relegated to the background as far as the issue of Nigeria is concerned, we are deceiving ourselves. We’re being treated as 3rd class citizens. I want to make that clear so we don’t deceive ourselves. The demonstration is engineered by something that is real but the approach and pattern is what I want to tell the leadership of IPOB and MASSOB to look into. Ndi-Igbo need to be given their right place in the country if not, let us go for referendum; let’s decide if we still want to be one Nigeria. The time to say the blatant truth has come.” he added.
He however advised the protesters to review their pattern of approach cautioning that “You can’t achieve these things by violence, destruction, confronting the government in existence.”
