Nigerians have been urged to work towards ensuring that the country does not disintegrate, despite the current socio-economic and political challenges facing it.
The traditional ruler of Obinugwu and the pioneer Chancellor of Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, who made the call in Owerri, Imo State, also opined that the consequences of disintegration might be too severe for everybody.
“We must all realize that despite our ethno-religious and linguistic differences, there can be no alternative country for Nigerians. We must also note that no sacrifice made to keep Nigeria intact as a nation will be too much,”Eze Ilomuanya said.
The monarch appealed to Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, stressing that Buhari was barely six months in office as president and it would be hasty to pass judgment on him at the moment.
“I am sure Mr. President means well for Nigeria, considering his backgrou- nd. He has been a former Head of State, Minister of Petroleum and had held several top positions in the past. He has a vision and a good blue-print for a better Nigeria.”
