Cardinal Francis Arinze inaugurates new Catholic diocese of Aguleri , Bishop’s court kicks off

Cardinal Francis Arinze has kick started the journey for a new Catholic diocese for the Catholic Church at Aguleri.
Already a new bishop’s court has been inaugurated. The Archbishop of Onitsha His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Val. M. Okeke, the Metropolitan of the Onitsha ecclesiastical Province was delighted at last a new diocese would spring up in Aguleri.
Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Willie Obiano witnessed the event among other dignitaries.
Obiano received a Papal Blessing from the Pope Francis 1 and later handed over the key of the beautiful edifice to the Auxiliary Bishop Dennis Isizoh who will be moving into the official accommodation.
We must recall that Aguleri became a parish in its own right with a resident priest in 1891, the first of its kind in Eastern Nigeria after Onitsha.
Cyprian Iwene Tansi was beatified by Pope John Paul 11 on 22nd March , 1998 at Oba, Anambra state Nigeria. He is from there.
Ihiala , Adazi Nnukwu and Ekwulobia as well as Umunze are other areas the Catholic Church would be having a diocese
