WHO IS THE NEXT RATED MUSICIAN IN NIGERIA BY RYAN AREH

The next rated category of the hip hop world awards is always one of the most tightly contested categories at Nigeria’s most recognized music award ceremony.aside the fact that it always comes with a special gift/prize  it celebrates a star in the making and a future winner of the headies. Since the headies started in 2006 only two winners(overdose and skuki) are without other headies awards aside their victory in this category.Asa, Wande Coal,  Omawunmi, Wizkid, Davido, Sean Tizzle and Patoranking have won more than 1 headie each, although this year’s next rated category has an act(Reekado Banks) as a former headies winner before his nomination in this category. I wanna take u on a brief summary on all the nominees for this year’s award…
Reekado Banks

He definitely would be on everybody’s list of nominees for this category after winning the rookie of the year in 2014.many would crown him king but we all have to wait till the final day. Reeky tom tom is widely known for his  vocal lead role on dorobucci, adaobi and looku looku with the mavins and on his personal songs like turn up, katapot and chop am. A unique singer and song writer, anointed successor of Wande coal, Reekado would definitely give other nominees a  good run for their money.
Kiss Daniel

He blew us all with woju one of the best songs ive heard this year that also turned into a street slang, the soft spoken singer signed on to G-worldwide entertainment also did a follow up hit laye to prove to critics that he is not just a one hit wonder although many pointed accusing fingers on the similarities of both songs produced by dj coublon, Kiss Daniel remains a raw talent churning out 2bangers in less than a year which makes him a strong contender in this category.
Cynthia Morgan

The hip hop, pop and dancehall queen with hits like I’m taken, don’t break my heart, German juice is the only female in this category which means she has worked really hard to get here. Cynthia was also nominated last year for the best reggae and dancehall single for her jam lead me on. The Northside entertainment artist is no surprise inclusion and declaring her the 3rd female winner of this category won’t be a  bad idea.
Lil Kesh

Lyrically fit local rapper (pardon my description) can boast of street credibility that is A+, from catchy hooks, to word play in Yoruba language , and slangs used in everyday conversations, shoki,  gbese,  efejoku are his major super powers to emerge winner in this category. With a number of collaborations and a large collection of fans there is no doubt skibo robo skibo of the YBNL fame won’t be a contender for the coveted prize.
Korede Bello
The godwin crooner ( arguably one of the best Nigerian songs in recent times) that excellently cuts across age groups, religions and even events. The song’s wide acceptance reminds me of Oleku by Iceprince. The Michael Jackson inspired artist is nurtured by Don jazzy of the supreme mavin dynasty and has a large fan base with the ladies. Korede’s soothing voice, charm, stage craft and songs (Cold outside and African princess)might just be all he needs to win in this category.

Notable mentions: Simi, D’ija,  Tolu ,Tekno, Adekunle Gold.
