ReplyDeleteAbove book launch - in its first leg of the tour of Igboland - chaired by Dr Dozie Ikedife that happened on Dec 12 , 2015 at King David Hotel Awka turned out to be a gathering of the cream of Anambra State - State Governor , Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Education , Members of the State Legislature , Academia , Traditional Rulers , Clergy , University Students , Odumegwu Ojukwu Foundation , Press Corps, University Students and then the masses .
Before the formal book launching kick-started by the Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, speaker-after -speaker following breaking of kolanuts and opening prayer , extolled the book quality and its local content , availability and affordability describing it as one of the best things to happen in Igboland in recent times . Of course , the book reviewer , Rev Fr Amakeze stated that Cow Without Tail - Book 1 has taken the long-held view of the existing cultural similarities Igboland shares with the Jews of Israel to an audacious level . He drew the attention of the listening audience to this fact and urges Ndigbo to continue to build on it and grow this organic relationship especially at this critical time in the history of Nigeria .
The author , Godwin Boswell Akubue , during the unveiling of the book and subsequent book-reading, likened it to the biblical woman of the issue of blood that got her miraculous healing by merely touching the tassels of the Messiah , an allegory suggesting that a treasurable book of this kind coming at this time will surely bring healing to the traumatized land of Ndigbo since 1967 .
Members of the audience were later treated to a lavish native food entertainment and cultural dance steps ( Itu Ukwe) , and finally a closing prayer .
