Over 3 Million Anglicans Storm Awka to pray for Anambra’s restoration, pray for Governor Obiano

www.odogwublog.com reports that over three Million members of Anglican Church in the eight dioceses of the Archdiocese on the Niger, Anambra state yesterday concluded a month long fast and prayer sessions to draw the blessings of God upon the state and the governance of the state at a yearly prayer rally session at Alex Ekwueme Square Awka. Those who attended the rally were over 500,000.
The Anglican prayer rally , Anambra state with theme ‘’ Total Restoration , Joel 2: 25, had Bishop of Aguata, Archbishop on the Niger and Dean Church of Nigeria, Most Reverend Christian Efobi leading other Bishop’s in the Archdiocese to the prayer session.
The Bishops tasked Governor Willie Obiano on the unity of Anambra state irrespective of religious and denominational backgrounds. They insisted that without unity of purpose, Anambra would lack development and progress. They urged him to be fair, just and equitable in dealing with all Anambrarians at all times.
Anglican Bishop of Awka, Right Reverend Dr Alex Ibezim urged Governor Obiano to keep the state one irrespective of religious and denominational background.


The Archbishop on the Niger, Archbishop Christian Efobi recalled that the event held November 1st last year during All Saints day   and urged Obiano to continue to be used by God to serve Anambra better. He  encouraged Anglicans to watch and pray at all times for God to intervene in the economic meltdown, deaths, hunger and deprivation but thanked Governor Obiano for supporting the event and coming in person.
The Guest preacher and Bishop of Ogbaru Missionary Diocese, Anambra state, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeoffor tasked Christians to eliminate special centers as they have killed our educational system and urged parents to stop encouraging examination malpractices in all forms.
Bishop Ezeoffor lamented the increased idol worshipping and title taking among Christians, wondering why Christians have gone back to their vomit of title taking and idol worshipping. He said Anglicans are now regarded as second class when they brought Christianity into Anambra and Eastern Nigeria as well as gave Ndigbo its first Bible in Igbo language. He further encouraged Anglicans to embrace the kingdom of God.
Bishop Ezeoffor encouraged Anglicans to be watchful and prayerful to be able to defend the gospel at all times even as he encouraged Christians especially preachers of the gospel to shun mercantile Christianity. He cited examples of Cyprus where big Church Auditoriums have been turned to Mosques with only one Church worshipping once a year on June 11, St Banabbas Day. He said the Church was written Iconic and Archeological Museum.
The Ogbaru Bishop lamented the attitude of some women who come to worship God wearing skimpy wears , exposing their nakedness, noting that abominable things are happening in the Church hence he called on the Anglicans to apologize to God, repent of their sins , return to God, before asking for restoration. 
Governor Willie Obiano had earlier donated five Million naira (N5 Million) to the Anglican Church in support of the prayer and two 32 seater buses for the Girls Brigade and Boys Brigade, and informed that he gave them the Alex Ekwueme Square at no cost.
Witnesses to the event Odikpo Madubueze, Managing Editor of Niger Times , Agwuncha Izuchukwu, Church Teacher with Chapel of Glory Anglican Girls Secondary School, Uruagu Nnewi diocese, and the Secretary of the Anglican prayer rally 2015 and Supervising Priest Nawfia Archdeaconry, Rev Canon Cyprian Nwankwo described the prayer rally as impactful and a statement of the presence of Anglicans in Anambra state. They said that the prayer is their own contribution for the progress and development of the state. They condemned the marginalization of the Anglicans in the state and urged leaders to be fair and just.
As well the Anglican Bishop on the Niger, His Lordship, Rev Dr Chiedozie Nwokolo called on the Federal Government to repair bad roads in the country to reduce the problems of motorists on them.

Other Bishops in attendance yesterday were most Right Owen Nwokolo of Onitsha, Right Rev Alex Ibezim of Awka, Right Rev. Samuel Ezeofor of Ogbaru. Right Reverend Prof Godwin Okpala of Nnewi and Right Rev Henry Okeke of Mbamili and Right Rev Raphael Okafor of Ihiala. 
Bishop of Ogbaru, Dr.Samuel Ezeofor, had faulted Governor Obiano’s inability to stay for the prayer rally, but commended him for what he described as purposeful leadership in the state.
‘’We are not here for madness, but we came to this ground for peace and unity of this state and country, he should have stayed to watch proceedings” the cleric said.
