Obiano orders demolition of 3 storey building at Okpuno, Francis Cardinal Arinze’s 50 years Episcopal reason for cancelling monthly sanitation

Governor Willie Obiano’s government issued two press statements as signed by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Mrs Uju Nwogu.

One---The attention of the Anambra State Government has been drawn to the danger posed by a three storey building located at Nodu Okpuno, beside Meshack Hospital & Maternity,Okpuno, Awka South Local Government Area, owned by one Fabian Eze.
The said building which is at the verge of collapsing had been certified unsafe for habitation by the Anambra State Materials Testing laboratory....
Consequently, Government hereby directs the owner of the said building to pull it down within 7 days of this announcement, failing which Government will be constrained to demolish the structure at the owner’s expense.


Two--------The Anambra State Government hereby informs residents of the state that the usual monthly environmental sanitation exercise of Saturday 28th November 2015 has been cancelled to enable Ndi Anambra & other people coming into Anambra participate in the 50 Years Episcopal Ordination Celebration of Francis Cardinal Arinze.

Government however states that the cancellation should not be misconstrued as an excuse for residents of the state particularly those in Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, Ekwulobia and Ihiala to abandon the regular clean up of their homes and surroundings. As a matter of fact, regular clean up of homes, offices and surroundings should be maintained at all times in order to assist government realize its objective of ensuring a clean and healthy Anambra state.
