Exclusive:Tears in Nise community as three youths killed because of fowl buried, Agukwu Nri yet to bury theirs

www.odogwublog.com reports exclusively that tears flowed freely last weekend at Isiakpu Village Nise, Awka South local government area when three out of the four youths killed over argument for ownership of fowl in a widow’s compound buried.
Those buried though their corpses were not seen were two brothers Afam Ezeobi and Jideofor Ezeobi as well as Ogenna Okpagu. The fourth person was Ifeatu Okoye of Agukwu-Nri. His burial is yet to be fixed.
They were given mass burial  at Ebe-Ofu square Nise as an outcome of peace committee in Isiakpu facilitated allegedly by the Town Union. The Parish Priest of SS Peter and Paul Anglican Church Isiakpu, Rev Christian Obijioffor and Parish Vicar of St Stephen’s Catholic Church Isiakpu Rev Fr Fabian Bielu are chairman and Secretary respectively.
The Ezeobi family rejected N150,000 each given by the peace committee in the first instance as condolence on the grounds that they said it was compensation while the Okpagu faily rejected the money initially but after explaining to them it was condolence as was done with Ezeobi family they accepted it and requested for a land on behalf of the dead. The Ezeobi family did not demand anything publicly but The Authority gathered their demand was not far from the Okpagu’s family demand.
The four under 25 years of age youths disappeared from Police net 8 years ago and every effort to locate them yielded no fruits even at court and the families as well as the community concluded they have been killed extra-judicially by police based on the notion they were criminals.
www.odogwublog.com reports that the Nise vigilante group on 20th September, 2007 invaded the compound of a widow Mrs Ngozi Ezeobi to retrieve a fowl alleged to belong to another widow who complained to her man friend that the Ezeobi’s took her fowl.
The Vigilante man (name withheld by us) entered and probably one of the deceased Afam challenged him  o go away from their compound and tell his woman friend that the cock belonged to them, on the process there was a brawl and the vigilance man shot Afam.
Lat Afam’s brother Jideoffor and friends Ogenna and Ifeatu newly married then took him to All Saints Hospital Agulu for first aide. The Doctor demanded for a police report since it was a gun wound but before they could come out SARS operatives stormed the hospital and took the four back to Nise Community Bank now Nice Microfinance Bank.
At the bank, the then Chief Security Officer , Chief Augustine Amah (Ochiagha) now late insisted they were criminals and asked SARS operatives to whisk them away against al protests by the youths and community.
Some section of Isiakpu village sympathetic to the humiliation and intimidation went to court and petitioned Inspector General of Police which led to the removal of CP Osuchukwu then with its attendant crisis in the community.
At the mass burial the Chairman of Awka South local government and Prince of Nise Kingdom Prince Azubuike Iloh was there, a business mogul, Emeka Aghasili known as Onwa Nise; Nise Town Union President ,Chief Chris Onoh was late  together with the Publicity secretary of the town , Chief Boniface Egbutu and his assistant and Youth President Ikechukwu Emeka Onyia as the family already lamented their absence before they appeared. The traditional ruler Igwe Romanus Iloh was conspicuously absent at the mass burial for peace to return to Isiakpu.
Chief Okey Nwoji who spoke for the Ezeobi family lamented the situation of the family since the boys were shot and killed and requested for a better package to assuage the loss even insisting God should take revenge since the murders have not shown true repentance for murder , while Ejike Okpagu lamented the loss of their brother and asked God to take charge.
They were given a mock burial because their corpses were not seen and police could not produce them.
