Amanuke robbery: Raped nurse, priest cry out to Obiano, security agencies …as NYCN laments recurring crime in Awka North

The victims of the armed robbery attack that lasted for several hours in the early hours of last Sunday in Amanuke community, Awka North Local Government Area, Anambra State have appealed to the Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano; the Police Commissioner, Mr H. H. Karma and other security agencies to unmask and bring to book the hoodlums that inflicted pain on them and made away with their valuables.
A nurse raped by the hoodlums at St. Vincent Hospital, Ms Promise (surname withheld by us) with tears cascading her chins pleaded with the concerned authorities to fish out the thieves.
“These agents of the devil have torn my heart apart. They have destroyed my pride. The security agencies should fish out these criminals. The Anambra governor should look into the collapsed security system in this zone. Why me, Lord! Why me?” she wept.
Rev. Cannon Nehemiah Ugoagu, the priest at Holy Trinity Anglican Church who was also robbed urged the governor to beef up security in the area. He said that unless something is done and quickly too, the collapsed security situation may degenerate to something worse.
Meanwhile, the National Youth Council of Nigeria, (NYCN) has lamented what it called “recurring criminal activities perpetuated by some unemployed young people in Awka North”. In a statement signed by its National Vice-President (South East), Comrade Nnonyelu Williams Onyibor and made available to newsmen in Awka, it decried that “the increasing rate of robbery, drug abuse and other criminal acts in Awka North is worrisome and should be arrested before it gets out of control.”
