UNN takes new shape, water runs, infrastructures revamped

                                                                      

Students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) Enugu Campus now enjoy portable water and many infrastructure hitherto dilapidated are being reconstructed.
The university as an institution of learning has been rated to number seven in Nigeria as against number ten before the emergence of Prof. Ben Jamin Chukwuma Ozumba as the Vice Chancellor.
Speaking to Journalists in an interview, to mark his one year in office, Prof. Ozomba said there was no drop of water in Enugu Campus of the university when he arrived at the school but “today water runs in the campus as I am talking”.
On infrastructure, he said that his administration had completed some abandoned projects and reconstructing some old buildings like some hostels and refectory at Enugu Campus.
The Vice Chancellor also disclosed that Zik’s flat that used to house some students would be demolished with a view to putting up new hostels there.
According to him: “as for the Zik’s flats, we are partnering with the Alumni which has promised us that they will take over those buildings. In our very estimation, the buildings have to be demolished outrightly”.
He stated that they are looking at the option of ppp to get the hostels maintained ,adding that TETFUND released fund for them to build new hostels at Enugu Campus, Nsukka and Ituku Ozalla.
Still on TETFUND, Prof. Ozumba noted that the establishment has already released a life line of N100m to UNN to enable them execute the West African University Games (WAUG).
“With this money, it will make a lot of difference. We are going to host only two games football and Hockey. Our stadium has been regressed and the Hockey pitch also regressed,” he stated.
On salaries, he pointed out that they pay their salaries as and when due, noting that the morale of staff was high now.
