Reports say Festus Keyamo, counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commissions boss, Ibrahim Lamorde, has filed a suit against Sun Newspapers, at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Lamorde, through his counsel is demanding for N1b.
An excerpt of the statement of claim, Filed by Keyamo, which was obtained from PM News, reads “being damages for the words published of and concerning the plaintiff which are libelous by direct reference and innuendoes contained at the front page and page 6 of the Daily Sun of 8th October, 2015 titled ‘N1TRN LOOTED FUNDS: LAMORDE, EFCC BOSS, IN SOUP’ and further elaborated upon at page 6 of the said publication.”
Reports say he is also demanding a retraction of the story, and an unreserved apology.
Counsel to the EFCC boss, described the publication as libellous, injurious or defamatory.
The EFCC boss was accused of allegedly diverting N1tr recovered from looters, by Mr. George Uboh, Chief Executive Officer of Panic Alert Security Systems.
