The Spaniard came within minutes
of signing for the Spanish giants, but the
necessary paperwork was not submitted on time
Manchester United goalkeeper David
De Gea insists he wants to put his difficult
summer
behind him following the botched
attempt to join Real Madrid. For months it seemed certain the Spaniard would return to his home city, but the two clubs failed to conclude the transfer before the September 1 deadline.
De Gea has since signed a new
four-year deal at Old Trafford and forced
himself back into
Louis van Gaal's starting XI.
Rather than dwelling on the failure to secure the
move away he wanted, the former Athletico Madrid
keeper now says he just wants to put the whole
episode behind him. “I am a guy who likes to put the
bad things and difficult times behind
me," he told Canal Plus. “I
had a lot of tough times and I know what it is. We
must move forward, working equally and always
strong.
“It's
a learning process that gives football hard moments
but that make you mature and grow.
These are things that you learn in
the world of football. You have to keep
working and try to
improve in every training session.”
