Anambra State Police Command have discovered and evacuated four mysterious dead bodies in a room at along Olisa Onyeka Crescent, Commissioner's quarters, Ifite Awka.
The police led by state Commissioner of Police Hassan Karma invaded the room in a two store-building in the morning of last Tuesday alongside ambulance and some morticaians.
The police on arrival broke the door of the room and discovered four dead bodies.
The four ladies reportedly died on Saturday's night in a room without bruises or attack from anyone.
Among the dead ladies was the owner of the room and a staff of Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission INEC, Awka, Anambra state, Mrs Chinwe Obi.
Filling questions from the Land Lady of the building, Ify Onyebumuo, she told National Light that she was contacted on phone by one of the tenants saying they were looking for the deceased since Saturday.
Mrs Onyebumuo noted that the tenant said awful water was dropping out from her room, adding that she had not picked her phone since Sunday.
The land Lady revealed that the deceased had lived in the building for 11months.
Also speaking, the Caretaker of the building,Machie Ignatius said he was contacted on phone by some tenants who told him they suspected some people died in that room.
Bar. Ignatius added that he was told the husband of that deceased also died on Friday in the room.
It was confirmed by a tenant (name withdrawn) that the husband died on Friday and was taken to mortuary.
It gathered that the identity of other three ladies had not been disclosed.
When contacted the Commissioner of Police, he noted the some tenants reported to police that they perceived awful odour suspecting some people had died in the room.
Mr Hassan, confirmed that the husband who based in Kotonu, when visited died last Friday in the room, saying that the other three women whose identity had not been disclosed were to be her church members who came to sympathize with her over the death of her husband.
On suspected death of the ladies, Mr Hassan said the police discovered a generator set and a remnant pot of soup suspecting to be carbon monoxide or food poison respectively.
The commissioner disclosed that the soup as well as their bodies had been taken to mortuary for examination.
He assured that the police would continue in their efforts to ensure safety of life and property
