Anambra CP Reads Riot Act To DPOs, Vows To Restore Discipline

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Anambra State Police Commissioner, Mr. Hosea Karma yesterday warned that non performing Divisional Police Officers, DPOs, to sit up or they would be shown the way out from the Police force.

Sounding the note of warning at Ogidi Police Station, Idemili North Local Government Area, during his familiarization tour of Police Divisions under his command, CP Karma reiterated that the state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, in a bid to flush out criminals, had provided the command with every necessary equipment especially vehicles with which to rid the state of undesirable elements.

He said, “consequently, we must be on our toes, we must be up and doing. Corruption is not allowed, you will be sacked if caught. Your uniform is your license and if you abuse it by extorting money and carrying out other illegal activities you will be dismissed.

"No police man should join revenue agents to collect money. Miscreants who came into this state as freedom fighters have turned to be enemies of the state and we say no", he stated.


The Governor has his eyes on everything in a bid to protect life and property of the people in the state and like you know, security now is every man’s business”.
“Any DPO who is not ready to do this work should leave the job. Any DPO who feels he is too big to keep his phones on should leave the force”, he warned.
The police boss also urged officers and men of the Division to steer clear of civil cases and land matters in their own interest.
He also reminded them that “bail is free” warning that whoever that is caught taking bribe will be summarily dismissed.
Mr. Karma commended the DPO in charge of Ogidi Police Station, Mr. Musa Hassan for his efforts towards crime prevention in the area and urged him not to relent.
Speaking he said, “if I have my way I will promote him to the next rank but I don’t have the power”.
He donated N30,000 to the DPO and his men for keeping the environment clean and pledged to provide them with vehicle to help in crime prevention.

In his response, Mr. Hassan pledged not to relent adding that he has been spurred to do more by the CP.

At Fegge Police Station the DPO, Mr. Rabiu Garba listed some of the problems confronting the station to include, waterlog that hinders access to the station especially when it rains and construction of drainages.

The DPO tabled his achievements that included, construction of water borehole and security tower post at the gate by Transglobe Pharmaceuticals, donation of 17 KVA lister generating set,  fencing of part of the barrack and sacking of illegal tax collectors.

In his response, the CP pledged to forward the problems confronting the station to the police authority.
