www.odogwublog.com reports that the supremacy battle between Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Anmabra 2014 Governorship election, Comrade Tony Nwoye and the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Chief Olisah Metuh has degenerated.
This is following the action of the State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party in suspending its governorship candidate in the 2013 election in the state, Comrade Tony Nwoye and eight others.
The factional Assistant Publicity Secretary of the party in the state , Mr Emma Oguaja, announced the suspension .
Those listed in the suspension letter signed by Chief Emma Oguaju, Assistant Publicity Secretary of PDP in the state, were Chief Tony Nwoye, who was the party’s governorship candidate in the 2013 election in Anambra State, Prince Ossy Ezenwa, who was named the state chairman of the Nwoye faction last week, Chief Ejike Oguebego, the state chairman of the faction led by Chief Chris Uba and Chief Basil Ejidike, the PDP state secretary of the Nwoye group.
Others were Mrs. Jessy Balonwu, the women leader of Nwoye group; Kenneth Arinze, publicity secretary, Uche Ogbonna, Chuks Okoye and Tony Akachukwu.
Oguaja emerged as the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the party in the congress held about two weeks ago were Prince Ken Emeakayi also emerged as the factional state chairman.
The congress was boycotted by most stakeholders of the party.
But in a swift reaction, Nwoye described the suspension as a huge joke, stressing that Emeakayi was never elected state chairman of PDP.
Oguaja’s letter reads: “Following allegations of anti –party activities leveled against them, the Anambra State Working Committee of PDP has, after preliminary hearing in compliance with Chapter 10, Article 57 (3) of PDP constitution 2012 (as amended), suspended the following members.
“The affected persons have been referred to the state disciplinary committee in line with the provisions of the PDP constitution.”
Oguaja told journalists that one of the offences of the Nwoye group was that it held a parallel state congress, knowing that the state executive committee of the party had been put in place.
According to him, the state executive of PDP had been meeting since that parallel congress to deliberate on the matter, adding that the suspension was the outcome of the deliberation.
However, Nwoye on telephone told our correspondent that “Emeakayi had earlier suspended himself in the domain of public opinion and for that reason, has no locus to suspend anybody”.
He said: “He (Emeakayi) can’t suspend me or any member of PDP. Where does he derive his powers from? He is not the party chairman and if Chief Olisa Metuh thinks he can direct Emeakayi to suspend us, he is just joking.”
Also reacting on the suspension, Chief Ejike Oguebego, who is chairman of another faction, said Emekayi is not a member of PDP because he had since been suspended from the party.
Oguebego said he (Oguebego) remained the state chairman of the party following court pronouncements.
