Making this disclosure to newsmen yesterday, the Director in charge of Operations, decongestion and Enforcement, Hon. Ndubuisi Christian Okonkwo said, "they were sacked for selfish enrichment and illegal activities."
"I have since replaced them with new commanders because if you allow them to continue in office the situation will be worse. I wish them well wherever they may found themselves.
Government work is a serious business and they have been warned during workshops/ training to avoid any act capable of bringing the image of the road decongestion unit to ridicule," he revealed further. He said also that, it is because of easy identification that I impose a badge on the neck of the officials and my phone number is there so that the public can easily reach me when the officia:s derail from their duty".
Hon. Okonkwo added that the the interest should be on how to assist Governow Willie Obiano in sanitising the state and and not to worship money bt engaging in corrupt practices. Commendind the governor for his infrastructural development of the state he said " Obiano is trying and he doesnt tolerate nonsense". He expressed satisfaction that the decongestion unit has been able to clear the roads of obstructions adding that it is difficult to now experience traffic grid-lock in rhe entire state.
Defferentiating road decongestion from that of traffic control he said that his is purely to remove obstacles that cause hold- up while the other is just traffic control hinting that he is the sole provider of most of the machineries use in road decongestion in the state.
