August Message to Mothers: Don't Canonize Your Children as Saints and Demonize Others by Bertha D.D.K Nwajagu
I write to thank God for the gift of life / health granted to mothers. I also use the opportunity to extend my happy cheers to mothers especially those in Roman Catholic and Anglican denominations who set aside this month of August to extend their hands of fellowship to all nooks and crannies of the society.
It is a month mothers remind themselves of their gift of motherhood, and say no to irresponsibility. 'Kudos!'
Note: Relationship is God's own precious gift to humanity .nobody is an island. Based on this context, mothers are enjoined to desist from immoral acts that will make nonsense of their motherhood .1 Tim 2:15 describe motherhood as an authentic God-given role to women, that it is, an honorable crown to mothers , through which the home succeed and society move.
By nature mothers are created to cherish and share their love with children. Mothers are urged not to canonize their own children as saint and others people's child /children as target for destruction. Please mothers, do not experiment on others people's child / children. In the teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ, He made us to understand that the closest thing to his divinity is love [i.e loving unconditionally or agape love] which he further extends through a mother's love on her child. With this, mothers and children work in the same garden of love. Check a suckler on her mother's breast; he/ she will be sucking and equally admiring the mother. In God's love all the children are so special, thus Jesus said in Matt 19:14;”let the children come to me and do not stop them because the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” then in verse 15 – Jesus placed his hands on them and went away.
This version tells mothers to bless children instead of castigating them. At first, God created mothers and imbibed them in the them power to nurture, nourish and to love children anytime, anywhere.
QUESTION: Why is it that in the society today, some mothers crown their own children princes / princesses and castigate other people's child/ children especially house helps given to them? A man or a woman will wholeheartedly give out his or her child as a house help to someone , then in a twinkle of an eye , the woman will loose their friendly approach on the child and become very hostile on the awkward assumption that he/ she is a witch. The child will be ex-communicated from the love and activities of the family. Some mothers on the attempt to affect deliverance on the child send him / her to mushroom places of worship where the child will be dehumanized, thereby complicating the life of that child. They will inflict all sort of torture on the child ranging from starving, using different weapon such as hot iron, hot water, razor etc on the child. A child was once asked to eat feaces from the toilet because she did not flush the toilet. An abomination before God and the trauma of your action is there.
No wonder the word of a legend, Mahatma Gandhi that “the greatness of humanity is not in being human, but in being humane”.
Remember the paradox that says” a child is a father of a man” is so paramount and has a long way to go. {i.e. when the little child becomes a full grown person with responsibility}. A child you maltreat today might be among those who will watch over you when teeth fall off your mouth. Do not do certain things because of your position and that the child has no power to object your command. A child should be disciplined and not to be castigated. God wants us to do good now. This implies that any position one occupies today is at the expenses of God's mercy and therefore you should serve the Lord there.
NOTE: the era we say that beggars have no choice is gone. Beggars are choicers now. Learn from the book titled Beggars Strike by Aminata. People started maltreating the Beggars, refusing to give alms to them, evacuating them like refuse. At a time all the beggars organized themselves and went on strike. Then the need arose for people to give alms to beggars in other to obtain favour from God through the government. The beggars were nowhere to be found and the people were in trouble . See, the game is one one.
More so ,it is not out of place to say that some mothers deny their house help / house helps an opportunity for qualitative education. They use them as hawkers forgetting that education is a responsibility and that it is a treasure that takes child / children to greater height. Any person who denies a child qualitative education abuse the United Nation's Act of 1976 which gives every child the right to qualitative education.
Finally, God is love, and in love children of God work in dominion. Mothers are enjoined to desist from immoral behaviours that will breach the glamour of their motherhood. When somebody gives out his / her child to you as a house help, if you are not okay with the Child's stay, send him /her back to the parent hale and healthy without inflicting deliverance wounds on him / her without the consent of the parents. Do not traumatize that child. In everything, let mothers embrace the gift of humanity bestowed in them through our mother Virgin Mary. Children are source of blessing. A child you maltreat today might be the person that will take care of you at old age. A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE.
