When the lover is leaving

So a man works far from home. Far away to keep him away from his wife for months in a row. Every time
he comes home, there’s a mutual understanding that he won’t be around for long. So as much as possible, the couple try to savour every moment.

They spend their days together as they do their nights.

Until it’s time for him to leave again. In those last few days, or hours, or moments, the union is strongest.

It’s no accident that Laylatul Qadr is among the last days of Ramadan. It’s also no accident that the particular night is unknown.

“The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.” [97:3]

Often, we forget Allah says the Night is better, not equal to, but better. That’s an infinity.
