In Jos:Governor wants checkpoints restored following twin blasts

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to restore military
checkpoints in the state in order to curb terrorist activities.

Lalong made the call on Monday, July 6, 2015, following twin bomb blasts which claimed 44 lives in the state capital, Jos and left 67 people injured.

“Today I made an appeal to Mr. President to please allow us to have checkpoints. This is because without the security checkpoints, people can flow from all angles and attack innocent people,” Lalong said.

Buhari had on June 22 ordered the dismantling of all military checkpoints nationwide, saying internal security should be handled by the police.
