In Borno:Army frees 182 Boko Haram suspects

The Nigerian Army has freed 182 people who were arrested by security agents on suspicion of having links
with terrorist sect, Boko Haram.


The released suspects, including women and children, were handed over to Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima by Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen Kenneth Minimah on Monday, July 6, 2015.

“We have over 100 detainees who were suspected to have link with Boko Haram. They are 100 men, 24 women, 40 underage boys and 18 children. They have been cleared; we have decided to hand them over to the Borno State government,” Minimah said.

“They have been thoroughly investigated and acquitted of any involvement in the activities of Boko Haram or connected with the group,” he added.


Shettima urged the released suspects to take advantage of their freedom and promised to help them settle back into normal life.
