Anambra Govt to prosecute tax evaders

ANAMBRA State government has frowned at non-remitance of taxes and levies by the owners of hotels
and proprietors of different industries in the state.
  In a statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Uju Nwogu the State government described it as a crime punishable by law for any individual(s) who has taken any evasive measures to avoid remitting taxes due for their properties to the state government.
  Dr Nwogu said that it was a civic responsibility, adding that deliberate evasion of tax payment or tax sheltering in any form is a crime punishable by law.
  She called on owners, proprietors of hotels and other hospitality industries who are yet to pay prescribed taxes and levies or who are yet to remit taxes of their employees to do so immediately as government would commence prosecution of all tax and levies defaulters in the state.
