Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Dr Paulinus Ezeokafor, has called on Ajalli and Akpu
in Orumba North and Orumba South local government areas to sheathe their swords and embrace peace, saying the acrimony against each other would not benefit them in any way.
Speaking with newsmen in his Awka office, Bishop Ezeokafor specifically told Ajalli people that there was no way anybody could totally remove Akpu from the history and map of Orumba North, neither will Ajalli be removed from the local government because they had lived together, that it would be difficult to differentiate them.
He regretted that instead of the communities to build the bridge of love, friendship and development, they were busy building bridges of hatred and that their acrimony was increasing on daily basis.
He, however, blamed Ajalli for allegedly promoting the hatred by their alleged refusal to allow anything bearing Akpu name in Orumba North Council Area
The cleric said: “The way Ajalli is going about the crisis continues to baffle me; they have totally refused to allow the people of Akpu who are their landlords to have anything to be identified with.
‘’If you go into Orumba North Local Government, Akpu people who were excluded from the LGA are living there, but they cannot be allowed to have anything, including sign-boards, to identify them.
“While other communities in Nigeria and the state are building bridges of love, friendship and development, Ajalli and Akpu hatred and acrimony are increasing on daily basis.
‘’Communities live together, but in their own, it is war-mongering evening and night, how can somebody be accommodating you and one day you turn back to chase him out.
“It is unfair, and instead of telling their children how to reconcile, they are telling them to continue pursuing them.
