Okada rider in Anambra nabbed for raping 16 year-old girl

 Recently, Uruagu axis of Nnewi, in Nnewi North local government area of the State, Anambra State
Vigilante Service, arrested a 39-year-old Chukwuma Ogbonna who hails from Ezza Mgbo in Ebonyi State, for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl.
  Miss Nwachukwu who is in S.S. 2 was raped on 5th June, 2015 on her way back from school by Chukwuma who was their family friend, church member and also a cyclist (okada) that usually conveys her to-and-fro to school.
  According to reports, Ogbonna took the sixteen year old girl towards an unusual and different route that fateful day, stopped at a point and complained that his motorcycle has spoiled and asked the girl to assist him get some nails in an uncompleted building. On that process, the okada rider maneuvered, raped and abandoned the poor girl.
  Every effort made by the girl's parents and neighbourhood to locate the cyclist proved abortive as he was nowhere to be found, until nemesis caught up with him on Monday, when a sibling of the victim saw him drinking dry gin in a kiosk near Ichi town and raised an alarm which prompted the arrival of security men that arrested him.
  Confessing after a thorough beating from the mob and the vigilante men, Mr. Ogbonna who said that it was not his first time of committing such an abominable offence, stressed that it all started after he impregnated his master's daughter back then in Plateau State, which was the main reason he was dismissed as an apprentice in 1999, adding that his life has been shattered and miserable since then. He equally disclosed that an outstanding case of rape is still awaiting him at Ezza, his hometown.
  Commenting on the issue,  the mother of the victim,  said she called Ogbonna on phone the day of the  incident but his phone was switched off. Then she rushed to their church and reported the matter to their Senior Pastor, who prophesied that Ogbonna must be caught before weekend.
  The woman equally expressed her surprise over what she described as man’s inhumanity to man from a trusted church member and a family friend, stressing that the young man betrayed the family’s confidence in him.
  Also speaking, Chief Chidiadi Ochiagha, the National President, Welfare, Peace and Universal Human Rights Initiative, condemned the action as an act of wickedness, humiliation and child abuse. He equally said that their organisation as a body that fights and protects the dignity of humanity would make sure  the culprit is brought to book.
  Meanwhile, Mr. Ogbonna has been handed over to the police for proper investigation and persecution.
