Nkpor-Amawbia road new standard for Anambra

The reconstructed 28.2 kilometer Nkpor-Amawbia Road has been set as the minimum standard for all road constructions in Anambra State under the administration of Chief Willie Obiano.
The governor made the declaration whilst commissioning the completed road at the Nkpor Round-About end. Also Governor Obiano commissioned the 1.2 Kilometer PHCN Road at Awada Layout, Obosi. The commissioning ceremonies took place in idemmili North Local Government Area.
Speaking at the Nkpor Roundabout, Governor Obiano stated that the Nkpor-Amawbia Road was a quality construction work undertaken in line with the best standards in road construction around the world; hence it is now the reference point for all road projects in the state.
According to Obiano, “I have to make it clear that this road was started by my predecessor in 2008 and was done up to 18 kilometers. My administration has completed 28 kilometeres of the road with end-to-end drainage and clear road signs and markings as well as the street-lighting which will soon be completed.”
The governor called on the Nkpor community and residents to ensure that the road is preserved. He also informed them that government operatives are working hard to fish-out criminals who disturb the peace of the community, and assured that the security of lives and property remain a cardinal programme of his government.
Obiano also commended the quality of work on the PHCN road. Said Obiano, “My administration started and completed this road which provides access to an important facility; I want to assure Ndi Anambra that despite paucity of funds, we have not abandoned any road awarded by my predecessor. This is in line with my promise of “3 Cs”: to complete, to commission, and commence new projects.”
Earlier, the Commissioner for Works, Barrister Law Chinwuba, said that the Nkpor-Amawbia Road was awarded and executed by CCC Construction at the cost of N9.2b, while the PHCN Road with its appurtenances cost N490million. He explained that the on-going lighting would soon be completed and called on the residents of communities within the road corridors to take ownership and ensure that people do not cut-through the roads, burn tyres or erect bumps.
Thanking the governor for the projects undertaken in the area, the Idemmili North Local Government Area, Chairman, Hon Emmanuel Idemobi declared that the communities
