Man remanded for beating judge

An Akure Chief Magistrate Court on Friday remanded a 24-year-old saw-miller for allegedly beating
and injuring Chief Magistrate Mrs.] Yetunde Ajanaku with fist blows and using his shoe to beat the judiciary officer all over her body.
Chief Magistrate Sunday Adedapo ordered the remand of the accused in Olokuta prison until June 23, 2015 for ruling.
The accused person, of no fixed address, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of assault.
 He was said to have committed the offence at about 6.30 at Odi-Olowo street, Akure in Ondo state, on June 16, 2015.
The offence is contrary  to and  punishable under section 351 of the criminal Code Cap37 VOL 1 LAWS of Ondo  state of  Nigeria, 2006.
Prosecutor, ASP Pelumi Adejuwon, prayed the court for an adjournment of the case to enable him study the case file.
 Counsel of the accused person, Mr. Azeez Agaje, opposed the prosecutor’s application, urging the court to grant his client bail, that the offence he committed was bailable.
The case was adjourned until June 23, 2015 for hearing.
