www.odogwublog.com reports that the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Chibuike Ikpeazu has vowed to
rid the state civil service of ghost workers.
Ikpeazu who was a guest in one of the local stations in Aba, the commercial nerve of the state on Friday wondered how the federal allocation to the state in the past regime could only be used to pay only workers salaries?
He said he was going to do an audit of the state ministries with the aim to have the actual population of the state workers. He said knowing the actual number of workers in the state would help him do a better planning for the workers he had promised to pay their salaries including pensioners entitlement.
According to ikpeazu in his maiden address after his swearing, he would do all he can to block wastage of state resources and also promised to sanitize the Abia state civil service for effective and optimum service delivery, adding that he would not fail Abia electorate who he said overwhelmingly voted for him in the March 28 and April 11 polls.
The new Abia State Governor who on Tuesday in a state broadcast announced his initial appointments also warned people who are in the habit of using the state government's name to exploit the people of the state through the collection of unauthorized levies to desist from such as the law would not tamper justice with mercy whenever they were being caught.
The new Abia Governor who had warned sycophants not to erect any bill board in the state bearing his image, assured the people of Aba and the state in general that he was not going to disappoint them even as he added that most of the ongoing road construction projects he recently flagged off would if not completed, be nearing completion at the end of his 100 days in office.
Ikpeazu also promised that his administration would touch other sectors of the state economy, stressing that there was need for the state to diversify it's economy owing to the dwindling oil price at the international or global market and however urged Abians to exercise patience with his administration which he said was capable of delivering the dividend of democracy to them
