Anambra Prominent Pharmacist, George Ezenwa tasks National Assembly on legislative Independent

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Members of the National Assembly have been urged to maintain
the integrity and independence of the legislature in the discharge of their legislative functions.

A political analyst and foremost Pharmacist, Sir George Ezenwa who spoke to the press in Awka on the inauguration of the 8th National Assembly, advised them against being rubber stamps to the executive to justify the mandate given to them by the masses for effective representation.

According to Sir George, the business of the house should deemphasize the collection of fat allowances but to centre on being patriotic to reflect the global economic meltdown which calls for sacrifice and service oriented leadership.

He warned that the old order of parading of financial flamboyance which characterized the Assembly status should give way to financial prudence to feel with the masses that elected them into office.

Meanwhile, a former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Anambra State, Chief Kenneth Arinze says the political horse trading which produced Chief Bukola Saraki and Dogara as senate president and speaker house of representatives heralds the maturity of the nation’s democracy.

Chief Arinze who spoke to the press in Awka on the growth of Nigeria’s democracy, okayed the ripples which trailed their emergence as a catalyst for good governance.

According to the Peoples Democratic chieftain, the political power play between the ruling party and the main opposition party in Nigeria occasions effective governance as witnessed between the US Democratic and Republican parties which have mastered the act of democratic governance.

He assured that the mixture of the different ideologies between the ruling party and the major opposition party on national issues rather than bring division engenders effective governance.

Chief Arinze said his party the P.D.P is operating on a new dawn with a repackaged and refocused political agenda with a zero tolerance to any business as usual.

Chief Arinze who declared interest to contest for PDP state chairman said his decision to join the race is to refocus and repackage the party at the state level to actualize its integrity.
